For the IMA AUTOMATION Division, we are looking for a MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER.

IMA AUTOMATION designs and manufactures prototype machines and production lines for the assembly of components across various application sectors, including medical devices, automotive, and e-mobility.

 

JOB SUMMARY

 

  • Design mechanical systems in compliance with project timelines and company standards; prepare and maintain machine bills of materials (BOMs) and related documentation according to company procedures.
  • Create and update machine or subassembly bills of materials in accordance with internal processes and guidelines.
  • Contribute to the definition of safety requirements and the validation of machines.
  • Collaborate closely with other departments within the division, particularly Software Engineering, Testing & Commissioning, and Assembly.
  • Provide technical support to the After-Sales team for troubleshooting activities and the implementation of new customer requests.

 

 

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES

 

  • Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a Mechanical Technical Diploma (or equivalent qualification).
  • At least 3 years of experience in mechanical design engineering departments within industrial automation environments.
  • Strong knowledge of 3D and 2D CAD systems and PLM management tools.
  • Engineering knowledge in areas such as materials, kinematics, tolerances, heat and surface treatments, plastics, and servo actuators.
  • Team-oriented mindset and ability to interact with customers to understand prototype development requirements and participate in design reviews within international environments.

 

 

WHAT WOULD MAKE YOU A GREAT FIT

 

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within structured teams and complex projects.
  • Good command of the English language.
  • Knowledge of tools such as CREO, AutoCAD, Windchill, and SAP is considered a plus.
  • Interest in participating in testing and experimental activities on new machine assemblies.
  • Previous experience in mechanical design for the medical automation industry is highly appreciated.

The initial gross annual salary (RAL) will be €39,000, under the Italian Metalworking Industry Collective Labor Agreement (CCNL Metalmeccanica Industria), with the possibility of an increase based on the candidate’s experience and skills, in accordance with objective and gender-neutral evaluation criteria.
